MANILA, Philippines—A biker was killed after he was hit by a van and then run over by a sports utility vehicle on New Year’s day in Manila.
Both remorseless drivers of a black Hyundai Starex van and a silver Mitsubishi Adventure, with plate number XNE 254, left bicycle rider Roberto Miranda, of Mataas na Lupa Street in Paco, dying from severe injuries on the head and body.
With the help of witness accounts, reports from the Manila Traffic and Parking Office said the incident happened at around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, at the corner of President Quirino Avenue and Zamora Street in Pandacan.
Miranda, 38, was reportedly crossing Quirino Avenue on his bike when the van, the license plates of which was unknown, allegedly beat the red light and struck the bicycle rider.
The impact caused Miranda to fall and again get run over by the speeding Mitsubishi Adventure which was traveling on Quirino Avenue towards Osmeña Highway.

The MTPO has sent out alerts to all police units for the arrest of the motorists responsible for Miranda’s death.
