Twenty days (20) ago, the PERTH-MANILA Book Project (PMBP) were acknowledged by community leaders, Kap. Isidro Mendoza Public Library officers, and Pandacan residents because of their heart-felt donations.
A “book shower” was held at the library showing our appreciation for the enthusiastic organizers of the book projects.
What exactly is a book shower? Read ahead para malaman nyo. :P
According to PMBP, the concept of a “book shower” is similar to bridal shower or baby shower, where giving gifts and presents is done. But in this case, Pandacan residents showed their appreciation by holding a formal book turn-over ceremony complete with speeches by leaders, and – of course – creative performances and numbers by youth group and stage performer.
One of the community leaders in attendance – Ka Sixto Carlos – gave a speech about community solidarity, youth involvement in performing arts such as the Teatro Balagtas, and social and environmental projects to revivify Pandacan.
More photos and nice story on this post. Hopefully we’ll see more events like this in the future. ;)
