April 22, 2009 – U.S. military and Armed Forces of the Philippines were in Pandacan, Manila during one of their Balikatan 2009 series in the Philippines. They attended mass and handed out donations and gifts for the residents.

In the picture above, Manila Archbishop Guadencio B. Cardinal Rosales blesses boxes of clothes, toys and other gifts for the local community being donated by U.S and Armed Forces of the Philippines.

BALIKATAN 2009

Balikatan is a series of bilateral military training exercises and community service events involving the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military. Balikatan, which translates from Tagalog into “shoulder-to-shoulder,” is an annual exercise which brings together the U.S. and RP militaries to ensure their militaries’ readiness and interoperability in the event of a natural disaster and to provide humanitarian relief needs.” Source.

    kudos to the people who organize and made this happen.

    just one thing, sana eh kahit hindi mga dayuhan ang mga tumulong sa atin eh sa tingin ko naman po ay kaya rin nating mga taga Pandacan na tulungan ang ating mga sarili at kapwa since nakakapag-ambag naman tayo sa mga pribadong organisasyon o nakakapag-ambag naman tayo sa pagpapatayo ng ating mga simbahan o parokya… bakit di naman tayo mag-ambagan para sa mga mamamayan ng Pandacan.

    o dili kaya ay magambagan tayo para makapagpatayo tayo ng maliit at matinong eskuwelahan para sa mga batang gustong makapag-aral na di naman kayang tustusan ng kanilang magulang. may mga gurong nagsasakripisyo na nagtuturo sa riles, may mga ibang sekta ng relihiyon na nagtutuo rin sa plaza azul at sa iba pang sulok o kanto ng Pandacan, bakit di natin sla tulungan na mabigyan ng kahit isang maliit na kuwarto para sa kanilang mga estudiyante?!

    un lamang po, sana po ay di lang simbahan o pribadong organisasyon ang ating tulungan, marami pang mas nangangailangan ng tulong. ang mga batang Pandacan….

    masyado ka lang busy pre, pero alam kong hindi ka rin papahuli sa mga ganitong activites… lalo na ung tumulong sa kapwa…
