Philippine National Railways (PNR) officially rolls out its brand new trains it acquired from South Korea this past Wednesday.Pres. Arroyo and Vice Pres. De Castro together with other officials (such as PNR chairman Michael Defensor) rode on the coach from Tutuban Station to Gil Puyat Station.
Paris Hilton said it’s “world-class”.
Just kidding. Paris Hilton wasn’t there but you get the picture. The difference between old and new trains is like a thousand words.
Officials said the addition of the brand new trains (only travel within Metro Manila) has a lot of advantages.
The new trains:
- offer cheap/affordable fares. I saw on the news that the minimum fare is P10, and the fare from Tutuban to Sucat is just P16.
- are much faster. it will only take 30 minutes from Tutuban to Sucat.
- are comfortable. Passenger will enjoy the clean coach, and the seats are nice. I believe there’s also an LCD TV inside.
- will help decongest traffic. Reports say that each coach can carry 170 passengers.
- are a lot safer. In the old train era, we heard stories of passengers getting hit by “flying objects” thrown by residents of home-along-da-riles.

To be honest, hindi pa ako nakakasakay ng tren ng PNR since I was 5 or 6 when we went to Bicol. Kaya wala akong ma-share na memories tungkol dito :P
Anyway, sana pwede ko magamit itong train going to Malabon. :D Mura na mabilis pa. :P
naalala ko, duon pa ako o kami sumasakay sa may kadiwa dati, sa may bandang phil. columbian o plaza dilao yata tawag dun sa circle na tapat rin ng estasyon ng tren ng pnr.
mabilis nga ang biyahe nuon, di ako sigurado kung magkano ang ibinabayad ng nanay ko o tatay papuntang sucat, alabang.
kaso, ang di lang maganda diyan eh iyong mga taong nagtatapon ng basurahan sa tren… minsan naalala ko na ikinuwento ng tita ko na may nagtapon rin ng dumi ng tao at buti na lang at di siya o sila ang natamaan ng pagkakabato nuon. pero bakit pa kasi kailangang gawin ng mga tao iyon, pati nga ang disenyo ng bubong ng tren dati eh pinalitan at ginawang patatsulok para kung may magtatapon sa bubungan nila ay mahuhulong rin at ang mga bintana nila ay nilagyan na ng mga harang…
