Dra. Lourdes Landicho-Evangelista was a parishioner of Pandacan since 1956 and was also appointed as a teacher in Jacinto Zamora Elementary School.
After her retirement in 1975, she taught in Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science & Technology (EARIST) and also held an administrative position. She retired again under the Retirement Act in 1995.
Her “retirements” didn’t stop her from teaching, and her passion urged her to teach again in Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa.
One of Dra. Lourdes’ biggest legacies for Pandacan is a book titled “Pandacan Today“. She authored the said book while also writing textbooks for college students.
Dra. Lourdes was also an active member of Samahang Sining at Kalinangan ng Pandacan (SSKP) and chaired its Research Committee.
In addition to that, she also came up with a community-based research titled “Buling-Buling ng Maynila 2004: It’s Retrospects & Prospects.”
With her love for teaching and her God-given talent in writing, she showed and shared her gift to all of us. A teacher, writer and mother… may you rest in peace Dra. Lourdes Landicho-Evangelista.

Di lingid sa mga taga Pandacan ang inyong masidhing pag-ibig sa ating bayan. Binalot ng makulay at makasaysayan ang mga panahong nagdaan ngunit hindi ito tuluyang lumipas pagkat nariyan kayo upang ito’y isulat at bigyan ng tunay na makahulugang pagpapaliwanag.
Pandacan wouldn’t be what it is right now if not for your dedication and deep love.
Salamat sa inyong ambag… Salamat sa inyong pagmamahal ngunit higit sa lahat salamat sa inyong halimbawa.
Nawa’y dungawin ninyo mula sa inyong payapang kinalalagyan ang bayang inyong minamahal. At kasama ng mga magigiting na pandakenyo, nawa’y ipagpatuloy ninyo ang pag-gabay at paghatid sa aming mga dalangin sa tainga ng Dakilang Panginoong Diyos.
Eternal rest grant unto Dra. Lourdes Oh Lord and let perpetual life shine upon her. May she rest in peace, AMEN.
