Site: Upgrade and Minor Changes

Pandacan resident and 1011 member Amor had alerted us of the recent WordPress (the most popular and widely-used blogging platform) attacks which require software upgrade. So we did that.

Pandacan1011.com is now running the latest WordPress version (2.8.4), and we also took the maintenance as an opportunity to upgrade one of the sections — FORUM.

Before the upgrade, our site had a shoutbox where anyone including guests can post, chat, and leave a message. It has been temporarily pulled down (along with other plugins) to improve the site’s performance. Although shoutbox proves to be a wonderful community feature, it lacks a very important aspect of communication: proper documentation.

The good news is, 1011 forum allows registered members and guests to post topics with meaty content. I believe it is much better if we want more traceability of topics and proper documentation of important events. Guests (ex. first time visitors) can post in the forum, but of course, the features are limited. Registered members have access to Private Messages (PM) where they can exchange messages with other members. More forum features are available to the members. So use the forum whenever you want. ;) The latest forum activities are displayed in the right sidebar. —>
