Cute or Kata-cute: Fiesta Boxing Challenge

The many games and activities are just a couple of reasons why Pandacan Fiesta is so much fun. Games like Basagang Palayok, Talent shows like Dance Contest and Singing Contest are entertaining enough to keep you up all night long.

But what are your thoughts about boxing?

When I was still a little kid I saw how “Agawang-Buko” was played: Young teenage boys divided into two teams, they will try to get a coconut covered in classic Filipino grease used in jeepneys. Whoever brings the coconut to their goal wins. They did whatever it took to get that slippery coconut, and it was really physical.

I didn’t want any part of that game. It may be an adventure and a test of masculinity to some, but I see the game as dangerous, and it scared the heck out of me.

On the other hand, boxing on the streets doesn’t look as rugged. But potentially, it could yield to a serious head injury. One wrong blow to the head, and you’re done.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not against fun activities. But as far as I’m concerned, it would give me a peace of mind if there’s at least one “medical” person standing by in case accident happens.

Watch a couple of youtube clips of boxing match below (warning: some offensive language) and tell us whether this game is a big deal or not.
