Do You Text?

Well, who doesn’t? Short Message Service (SMS for short) is so popular in the Philippines that we were called the TEXT Messaging Capital of the World. Imagine 600 million text messages being processed a day. No wonder Richard Gordon wants to impose tax on cellphone text messaging.

Anyway, call me a traditionalist, but I am not really a fan of texting — meaning, I try not to use it as much as possible. Unlike others, I find it hard to SMS other people and I view the communication slower than talking over the phone. Besides, there’s always a strong possibility of delayed message, lalo na kung importante ang message.

Continue below….

I am sure a lot of Pandacan residents contribute to the 600 million text per day statistic. Just look at the way people write and talk. :P My only concern is, sana when the mode of communication is not a cellular phone or chat/IM, use proper sentence naman.

So this explains my amateurish photoshop picture above. :P I’m just concerned that one day, text messaging will rule Pandacan (and who knows, Philippine Government?) that we will have a SMS-based street signs.

Okay lang sana kung cellphone yung poste.

  • guys, nakikita nyo ba ung mga signs na “PED XING” all over manila, installed during mayor atienza’s time? it took me couple months before i figure out what it means. PEDESTRIAN CROSSING. all the while, kala ko with the influx of foreign visitors, chinese, japanese, koreans, europeans e, isa sa mga language nila un. i dont know, maybe its just me-too slow… pero di ba start na un ng sms-based street signs?

btw, hindi nakakatulong un ganun mga signs, in fact i dont notice them anymore, i dont even remember kung meron pang mga signs na ganun ngayon. especially after mayor lim removed everything that will remind manilenos that mayor atienza was once manila’s mayor. hahaha.

Anyway, how about EDSA? Epifanio Delo Santos Avenue…
