I also completed my elementary grades and graduated with honors from JZamora Elem. Am a product of our public school system, because after JZamora I went to M A Roxas high and completed my secondary then to UP for my AB in Economics. So you you see am indebted to the Filipino people…they sent me to good schools. Am hoping though some energetic grads from JZES will find time to organize a regular alumni homecoming… Mang TONY :-)

JEEP – From SM Sta. Mesa, sakay ka ng Jeep papuntang Quiapo, pero make sure na bumaba ka bago mag-flyover. Malapit sa Pureza ang flyover na ito.
Lakad ka sa ilalim, hanapin mo ang 7-11/KFC/Wendy’s.. merong terminal na ang ruta ay Pandacan-Rotonda (meron kasing Paco-Rotonda, baka malito ka). Sakay ka ron. Tatawid lang ng Nagtahan bridge ang jeep then kakaliwa sa Jesus St. Tulay ang last stop nito.
Lakad ka ng konti, papuntang simbahan (Bayan), may sakayan ng jeep to PACO-TAFT. Sabihin mo sa driver ibaba ka sa Zamora Elementary School. Mabilis na byahe lang ito kung di naghihintay ng pasahero ang driver ng jeep. Pwede kang bumaba bago mag-Quirino Avenue, or sa Quirino Avenue mismo, sa ilalim ng overpass sa tapat ng YGIEA Center, tawirin mo na lang papuntang JZES.

anyway, kung ikaw ay malapit sa SM Centerpoint, may mga jeep duon na may rotang Rotonda Ilalim. sakay ka diyan at maibababa ka sa rotonda mismo. ang palatandaan dun ay kakaliwa na ang jeep pabalik ng sta. mesa, makikita mo sa bandang kanan mo ang mercury drugstore at sa kaliwa ang save more grocery. lakad ka o tawid ka papunta sa kabila ng stop light papuntang malacanang at dun mo makikita ang sakayan ng jeep to pandacan.
may mga jeep na biyaheng divisoria rin na dumadaan sa ilaim ng rotonda, much better kung ito rin ang masasakyan mo dahil ibababa ka nito sa sakayan mismo ng jeep papuntang pandacan. wala na sa 711 ung jeep ng biyaheng pandacan dahil sa gabi lang sila pwede na pumarada dun pero kapag araw eh dun sila mismo sa ilalim ng tulay.
ibababa ka pala sa pandacan sa may tulay ng jesus street ng driver. lagpas lang ng kaunti sa residencias. lakad ka papuntang simbahan ng sto nino de pandacan, may makikita kang mga jeep na kumakanan sa bahagi mo na papasok ng teodoro san luis street. sakay ka dun at sabihin mo sa driver na ibaba ka sa JZES. may pila rin diyan ng jeep, nasa iyo yun kung gusto mo ng pila o larga agad.

@Aga, kung sa Sampaloc ka, ang shortest route ay sa Vicente Cruz (Trabajo); yun nga lang medyo lalakad ka ng konti..
A. VICENTE CRUZ/TRABAJO ROUTE
1.) sakay ka ng jeep papuntang Rotonda, lalakad ka palabas ng Magsaysay Blvd (refer to comment #23-24).
2.)Tumbukin mo yung ilalim ng tulay, makikita mo ang 7-11/Wendy’s. May mga ruta ron papuntang Pandacan
3.) Sakay ka ng Pandacan, tatawid lang ang jeep ng Nagtahan bridge kaya mabilis lang ang byahe na ito. Pagbaba ng Nagtahan, kakaliwa ang jeep to Jesus St. papuntang tulay na syang last stop. Madadaanan mo ang Residencias de Manila (condo building).
4.) Lakad ka ng konte papuntang Sto. Nino de Pandacan Church, may makikita kang mga jeep papasok sa T. San Luis St. Paco-TAFT ang ruta nito, sumakay ka ron (refer to comment #23-24). Bumaba ka bago mag-Quirino Ave or sa Quirino mismo sa tapat ng YGEIA Medical Center sa ilalim ng overpass. Makikita mo na ang JZES.
REVERSE ROUTE
From Pandacan to ESPANA – Reverse route lang din.
1. From JZES – sakay ka ng jeep (BAYAN-BEATA), make sure na sa BAYAN ka bababa (simbahan yon – Sto. Nino Church) along Jesus St.
2. Lakad ka sa kaliwa, sa maliit na tulay may ruta papuntang Rotonda, sakay ka ron (tatawid lang ng Nagtahan), mabilis lang ang byahe.
3. Lakad ka pabalik ng Vicente Cruz (Trabajo), sakay ka ng jeep to Sampaloc).
B. TAFT ROUTE
1.) Sakay ka ng jeep to PGH (Baclaran, Vito Cruz, Pasay, etc)
2.) Baba ka sa tapat ng PGH or sa Pedro Gil LRT Station, tawid ka papuntang Escoda (makikita mong landmark: jolibee, McDo)
3.) May mga terminal ng jeep to Pandacan, sakay ka ron (10-15 mins travel time, 20 pag traffic)
4.) 2 maliit na tulay ang madaanan mo. Sa ikalawang tulay paglagpas ng Penafrancia PLAZA, alerto ka na. Kakaliwa sa Quirino Avenue ang jeep, bumaba ka sa overpass, bago kumanan muli ang jeep. JZES na yung gate na makikita mo.
REVERSE ROUTE
From Pandacan to Taft.
1.) Labas ka ng JZES, tawid ka ng Quirino Ave.
2.) Sakay ka ng Jeep to TAFT (10-15 mins travel time, minsan 20 kapag minalas-malas ka sa traffic)
3.) Baba ka ng TAFT (PGH or Escoda)
4.) Sakay ka ng jeep to ESPANA.

kung edsa sa bandang cubao. pwede ka dumaan sa ramon magsaysay. you will pass by SM sta mesa. after pureza street merong flyover. wag ka umakyat dun. dumaan ka sa ilalim then sa sunod na stop light turn left ka papuntang nagtahan bridge. pagbaba mo ng nagtahan sa bandang kaliwa ka na kasi zamora street na yung sunod na stop light. turn left ka na dito. dito na sa kanto yung j zamora elem school.

Hi! I’m glad to come across this site. I’m from Batch ’85 of JZES. Section 1 from grades 1-5 then was transferred to section 2 in grade 6 but I’m so glad that Mrs de Jesus (my grade 6 English teacher who was also the adviser of section 1) fought on my behalf so I was included in the honor roll during graduation. Dati yata dapat galing sa section 1 lang ang mga honors. I started with “Ang Pandan” in grade 3 and became the Features Editor of the English paper in gr 6 (ano na nga ulit tawag dun sa English paper natin?)
I grew up in Kahilom 2. After Zamora, I went to Mariano Marcos Memorial High School then went to UP Mass Comm in College. Just like Tony & Mai, I am also indebted to the Filipino people, being a product of the public school system ^_^
I remember Kuya Mar, Ms Duldulao (gr 1), Mrs Macalalad (gr 2), Mrs Lopez (gr 3), Mrs Villamor (gr 4), Mrs Ramos and Mrs de Jesus (gr 6). Sorry, nakalimutan ko na yung adviser ko nung grade 5.

Hi there, hi Mardy…like you I was also a product of JZES, but two years ahead of you. Batch ’83 ako, the batch of Aris Ferrer and Jocelyn Vela. We came after the batch of Marny Montiveros (sorry if i didn’t get the name exactly). The batch after us was the batch of Myra Agner Galope and Rochelle Bercasio….sadly i don’t know anybody from the succeeding batch na. I was section VI-AT, bilingual section ito, this was the section 1 sa bilingual sections, and section 11 was the section 1 in the regular sections. Si Mrs. Nelia De Jesus din ang aming adviser. I was the only boy in the top 5 of the graduating class, lahat babae na. Naging teacher ko din si Mrs. Macalalad sa grade 2, andami ko nga naiwan na story books sa kanya eh…hehehe. I remember fondly the quiz bees we used to join, sa science quiz bee ako nag 2nd place, sa district level lang…ka team ko ung valedictorian namin na si Aris Ferrer.
After Zamora, I went to Manila Science, madami din kaming mga taga Zamora nagkita kita sa Masci, including sina Aris Ferrer, Jocelyn Vela, Alejandro Magbanua, etc. Then went to UP diliman and graduated in a BS Geology course.

Yes….I am proud to be a product of the public school system…but i can’t help but think if the public school system of today is still the same as during our time…..which can go on head to head with the private schools….talent and brain wise…
Hi raymund, i’m from batch 79, I can see people from older batches attending UP and/or other exclusive schools as scholars and earning names for themselves in any industry. Students now are at a disadvantage since teachers are forced to extend longer hours and teach between 50-100 students in a class, whereas before the maximum is 40 aside from that there is already three shifts in a day ergo their time for each subjects have been severely shortened. If we are to include the combining of three subject into one, and the lacking if not dilapidated teachings aids and equipments our future generation will not have much mental skills and aptitude to win or even survive climate change, dwindling food supply and highly technology intensive and competitve economy.
Hi Willie, I agree with you 100%, that is why even if I came from a public elementary school and looking at what became of myself, I don’t want my child to go a public school. It’s not to demean the public school system, but knowing the current situation, I’d rather spend a little more money for my child’s education.
By the way, are you related to Rochelle Bercasio, who’s from the next batch to us? I believe she was the salutatorian of their batch and Myra Galope was the Valedictorian. Napunta din sila ng Masci, junior din sa amin.

Rochelle is my sister, i’m their eldest. I’m from MaSci batch 83, another sister is from batch ’84. then there’s rochelle who is from batch ’88. I created a facebook page and group for J. Zamora Elementary School batch 79. I also created a page for MaSci batch ’83.
Are you batchmates with Shiela Jacque from MaSci? You should sign-up in facebook and join the Masci Alumni Group. Usually the sponsor cycle of a MaSci reunion is 5 years, and the 25th year is the main celebrant. We just completed ours, last 2008. If you are from batch ’87, yours will be coming up this coming 2012 wherein you will be the main celebrant…. meaning lahat ng gastos sagot nyo hehehe.

a. pupunta ka sa ilalim ng nagtahan flyover (either – 1. sakay ka ng jeep papuntang recto, baba ka bago bumaba or umakyat ng flyover; 2. lakarin mo lang – mas eco friendly/healthy option – 5 min)
b. sa ilalim ng flyover, may sakayan papuntang pandacan (tatawid lang ito ng nagtahan-mabini bridge) baba ka ng terminal. again pwede mo rin lakarin para tumawid ng tulay ng nagtahan (10 min).
c. from terminal ng jeep, lakad ka kaunti papunta ng simbahan, (bayan), may mga sakayan ng jeep papuntang taft avenue. dadaan ito ng zamora. – kung nilakad mo lang ang nagtahan bridge -derecho ka na sa quirino avenue, dadaanan mo na zamora (10 min).

Ofcourse cnu bang makakalimot sa hotdog on toothpicks and soup like lugaw and sopas na kinukuha pa namin sa canteen…tambayan nmin sa bleachers, sa gym with girls wearing their pink bloomers hahaha…with our mataray na gym teacher (i forget her name). I was a member of the Art club ng school..ahm naging part din ng Filipino Journalism which “Ang Pandan”. Choir member din ako with our mentor Mr. Villanueva. Who will forget those strict tearchers we have, like Mr. Olase, Mrs. Atinaja and ung English teacher nmin ng 6th grade i also forgoten her..at eto pa i also have this “teachers” aside from teaching my xtra business cla hehehe, “crinckles” hehe.

Hi Guys , im a proud graduate of JZES also BATCH 81. Yun section namin is the last section , Sec20 , kase pinag sama sama lahat ng transferree into 1 section. During our time tinayo yung santo nino grotto sa loob ng school. during that year also was the 1st visit of Pope Jonh Paul sa Manila , dumaan sya sa tapat ng school. I can still remember the times when i was in kinder with Mrs. Valle and the famous “hot pandesal”, grade one with Ms. Duldulao and the “palo-palo”, two with Ms. Alcantara and the most talkative student, three with Mrs. Sanches, four with Mrs. Patricio and the long stick and squat, five (i forgot) and six with Mr. Olase…..Hayzzzz its been a long long time but still the memories of my gradeschool remains in me.

For those who knew MRS. ****E, a kinder teacher of JZES. fyi she is not a good teacher and example to her students. She is currently living with same sex and had a relationship with the said women. She might knew what will be the consequences of doing it but still she continued it. For me its not right for a teacher who will had a relationship with that kind of people who happened to had a family whose husband works abroad. She really had a motive why is she still with that women.MONEY. so please to those who knew her give pls her advice, maybe she forgot what will be her sin to God:immorality. Although some people are open minded but still its not proper. Hope you understand.

i am a proud graduate of JZES batch 92-93. dito ako unang natuto na makipaghabulan sa gitna ng quadrangle bago pumunta ng canteen at kapag pipila for the flag ceremony. ang pinakamasaya sa lahat ay yung exercise tuwing umaga. ang madalas iwasan ng mga estudyante – ang ma-late sa pila pag umaga. kasi pag na-late, may sarili ng flag ceremony, may sermon pa bago pumasok sa classroom.

I am a proud JZES alumni , SY 1974-75. Our class adviser is Ms. Nelia De Jesus. Section AT-1. My sisters Gigie, Caroline and Norman were also graduates 1977, 1979 and 1981. We are also very proud to be an alumni of this great public school. My mother and her sisters and brothers are also alumni and we have wonderful memories especially with my teachers. Mrs. De Jesus (Gr. 6), Mrs. Carvajal (Gr. 5), Miss Romaquin (Gr. 4), Mrs. Sanchez (Gr. 3) and Ms. Barbero (Gr. 2)….all great teachers and part of my memorable elementary days. We wish more successful students coming out from this great school….
I was also a graduate of J. Zamora Elem School (batch 1977-1978) Section 1 under Mrs. Nellei De Jesus. Both my parents were also graduates of this school as we were all born and raised in Pandacan. I have fond memories of this school and I think the foundation of the education that was provided to us, then, have had a tremendous impact and contribution on where we are at the present time. We are now all based in Canada and by looking at all the pictures posted on this site surely brought on a lot of great and fond memories while growing up in Pandacan. Wish we could all go back for a visit at some point in time in the future. More power on this site and please keep on posting as much information as you can. This is such a great site to visit and one way of being connected to our beloved hometown….

Yup, J. Zamora was a nice school so it’s understandable that we all get a bit nostalgic just by looking at all the pics. I attended Kindergarten there as well – we had miniature playhouses, even kids pool at the back (albeit hanggang tuhod lang ang lalim ng tubig :-)…it was so much fun nevertheless. I wish Pandacan can be resurrected to it’s apparent previous ‘glory’ days by really cleaning it up. It would be a great idea to market Pandacan as the ’Venice’ of Manila (as it was known before) all over again. Why not make it more like the Old Intramuros, complete with cobble stone streets at that, and by preserving the facades of a few old homes that are still left in the community (as a few examples)! This would be a great come-on for tourists and balikbayans who used to live in Pandacan before and also a way to generate revenue for the town. With a lot of creativity and help from everyone, I’m sure this would be a viable undertaking….just a thought…

Hi Ada, I can’t remember my teacher in grade six. His a man tall, teaches math.
I can’t remember my section. I need to dig up some pictures from my grandmothers house in Pandacan to remember. For sure the picture will tell him my teachers name and my section. I remember few names: Delia, Jocelyn, Nancy, Cynthia and Anita. I usually seats on the back because of my last name. I remembered working the cafeteria for a week when I was in grade 5 and grade 6. I learned a lot from that school.

kasi i grew up here together with my siblings until i married and had to move somewhere else. Nakakamiss talaga. Good thing my parents are still in Pandacan so i have a reason to go there, weekly or everytime there are special occasions. And my mom used to teach in JZES, Grade5 Science Class Adviser sya. Her name is Mrs Flora de Mesa and she is still very healthy at 80 y/o altho medyo malabo na ang mata nya. Matagal na syang nag retire…I am proud to have a teacher for a mother!

i guess fate brought me to this page..it was never in my mind that i’ll be reading testimonials from different people from the same school…AND I AM SO PROUD TO SAY THAT I GRADUATED FROM JACINTO ZAMORA ELEMNTARY SCHOOL BATCH ’96..from my mom and dad to my siblings, all of us graduated from jzes..my sister and i had the same teacher named MRS, ORDILLANO..( not to mention that our age gap is a whooping 15 yrs)..how can i forget MR.OLASE and his counterpart Mr. Villanueva..Mrs Del valle/valle was also my kindergarten teacher and then mrs magallanes who then had to rest because of a car accident; Mrs. Lopez was my 3rd grade adviser then Mrs. lugtu on the 4th grade, Mrs Marbella on my fifth grade and Mrs abeleda on my 6th grade..i belong to section 3 from grades 1-4 and section 1 from grades 5-6 (modesty aside..hehehehe..)…i was also part of the volleyball men’s varsity team batch ’95 and ’96 under Sir Mar romulo..and i missed you so much coach…i really had wonderful and unforgettable experiences during my stay at JZES..Please continue providing quality education to all your students and lead them to the righteous way like what you did to us…Am also hoping for a grand reunion for batch ’96 soon.. i would really aprreciate if you couls help me pursue this plan..thank you and god bless us all..
and addition i was also part of the choir under mr villanueva and the school paper “pandan” on my 4th and 5th grade then switched to “scroll” on my 6th grade..just to add on my records,,,hehehehehe

cesar, di ko ne natatandaan ung DEC Boys, hahaha, ang baduy!.. pagkatapos natin sa zomora, nag high school me sa adamson, dun din ako nag college BSCE pero di ako nakatapos dahil sa jai alai, hehehe. pumasok nag pulis ako dito sa maynila noong 1078 at nagretiro nako nitong 2006 sa ranggong kapitan. sa kasalukuyan, pensiyonado nako. pakuya-kuyakoy na lang at pakape-kape. dito pa rin bahay namin, nandun pa rin ang tindahan, akin naun ngayon. dalawa naging anak ko. may aswa na ang panganay at may 2 apo na rin ako sa kanya. wala ka ba balak magbakasyon dito sa pilipinas?
